The Brewers Blog on JS Online has posted that Claudio Vargashas been reacquired for minor leaguer Vinny Rottino, a utility player who was playing primarily first base. Vargas played with the Brewers in 2007, part of the starting rotation (23 starts).  He appeared n 29 games with a record of 11-6 and a 5.09 era.

Hopefully Vargas along with the call-up of Mike Burns will help, if not stop, slow the bleeding in the Brewers pitching rotation until Bush and Suppan return sometime in mid to late August.

Brewers started the season 10 games over .500 going 30-20 in April/May, since they have gone 20-30 in June/July to put them right at .500. Brewers start a 9 game road trip tonight in San Diego, then LA and Houston. This is the first time the Brewers will be seeing the Padres this season, they were swept in a 3 game series earlier this month by the Dodgers and the have the edge over Houston so far this season winning four of the six games between the two teams.
